 Speaker Spotlight

Zohn Centimole, PhD, CRNA is the assistant director of the University of Louisville Nurse Anesthesia Track. The first nurse anesthesia program housed on a tertiary medical center campus, in the state of Kentucky. Dr. Centimole has over 18 years of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) practice in the tertiary health care setting. His practice experience spans from outpatient remote anesthetics to major trauma resuscitation, as well as a large volume of complex cancer care. At the University of Louisville, he teaches pharmacology, chemistry, and physics to nurse anesthetists. He has presented at national meetings and published in several perianesthesia journals. Keep an eye out for his next article contribution in the April edition of the AANA Journal.

His research interests include the effects of anesthesia on cognitive function. In his clinical trial from 2014-2017, he applied the Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated battery-Mild Cognitive Impairment (CANTAB-MCI) computer-based system to the anesthesia population. He actively studies individualized, custom anesthesia, strategies to optimize patient outcomes in vulnerable individuals.

Jennifer Harpe-Bates, DNAP, CRNA, FAAN Dr. Harpe-Bates received a certificate of Nurse Anesthesia and a Master's in Health Sciences from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1992. She graduated with her Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2019. In 2021 she received a certificate in Morpheus Perioperative Care from the Morpheus Consortium. Dr. Harpe-Bates is employed by the University of Louisville Nurse Anesthesia program as an Assistant Professor and Simulation Coordinator. Clinically she continues to work for Northstar Anesthesia in Louisville, KY as a CRNA. Dr. Harpe-Bates serves the community through her appointment as the CRNA seat on the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

Winifred Hwang, DNP, CRNA - is a recent graduate of Duke University and is currently a staff CRNA at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center in Santa Clara, CA. She has previously been a speaker at the 2023 AANA Annual Congress. Before becoming an RN and CRNA, she graduated with a B.A. in biology from Boston University and worked as a researcher at Brigham and Women's Hospital as well as Stanford University. Her experience in and passion for research carries over to her budding career as a CRNA today! Her primary interests are pharmacology, physiology, and education.

Daniel King, DNP, MNA, APRN, CRNA, CPPS, CNE - Dr. King is a practicing nurse anesthesiologist, owner of DreamLion Anesthesia, and an Associate Professor at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in   Chicago, Illinois. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana, a Master of Nurse Anesthesia from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from The University of  Alabama, Tuscaloosa. He is also a Certified Professional in Patient Safety and a Certified Nurse Educator. Dr. King currently serves as Chair of Professional Practice at the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and as Director at the Illinois Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. Among primary research interests, Dr. King is a dedicated subject matter expert in cannabis implications for perioperative and critically ill patients and has also formally investigated the social stigmatization of cannabis use in healthcare. 


Judith Tenhundfeld, MSN, APRN-CRNA, DNAP - is a nurse anesthetist for the Department of Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Her clinical focus is pediatric anesthesia.

She also serves as the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director at Northern Kentucky University.
